Walks from Dunvegan, Skye: Bird Watching Route
One of many walks which start and finish in the village of Dunvegan on Skye with additional wildlife watching opportunities.
Summary
In this blog we tell you how to see incredible birds right on your doorstep at Skye Lodge! A short walk takes you to an absolute prime location. Use it to take a moment to sit amongst the wildlife and pay attention to all the little details of nature’s wonders.
Walk
Distance .5km
Low Bog factor
Easy
Leave the Skye lodge guesthouse driveway, turning right over the cattle grid and the bridge to the bottom of the hill. To follow the coast, go down the small grassy slope to the left of the benches and next to the gate which goes to the caravan park. Do not go through the gate. The loch verge is grassy so this is passible even at hightide, but lower tide is better for bird watching
The best spot is just where the river meets the loch, before you go round the corner so you can still see the Skye Lodge. Lots of sea and wading birds can be seen here especially at low tide.
